Each year, Fort Bragg Schools participate in STEAM week projects.STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics) is integrated into all discipline areas. This year's theme in the Spanish I class is to write a children's bilingual book using a web-based tool called Storybird. Storybird allows students and teachers to create digital books based on artwork.

The goals of this project are for students to:

  1. develop 21st Century skills such as critical thinking, problem solving, and written communication,
  2. develop a greater appreciation for peer collaboration and teamwork, and
  3. meet DoDEA's World Language Standards by engaging students in meaningful, and purposeful authentic situations.

Students are engaged when they are involved in their own learning. The bilingual book project allows the students to take ownership of something creative and unique. The three winning books will be permanently housed in the school library."It has been such a joy to see Jalen Helh, a seventh grader, Dylan McDonald and Dustin White both eighth graders as bilingual writers," said Ms. C., Spanish teacher. We invite you to come tour our school library and enjoy our own authors' work on display.Nothing stimulates the mind and fuels the imagination like books do.Have a great Summer!
