There are two types of sexual harassment.

Quid Pro Quo harassment occurs when “submission to or rejection of such conduct by an individual is used as the basis for employment decisions affecting such individual.”
An example of “quid pro quo” harassment
A supervisor requesting sex from an employee in exchange for a promotion.
Hostile Work Environment
A hostile work environment is a workplace situation where an employee cannot reasonably perform his work, due to certain behaviors by management or co-workers that create environment that causes severe stress to the employee.
Any of the following may create a hostile or intimidating work environment:
- Sexual jokes, teasing, comments, or sexual innuendoes
- The presence of suggestive posters or objects
- Sexual involvement of a supervisor and an employee he/she supervises.
