Assessments

Grades K through 12:  English Language Learners, Language Assessment Systems Links (LAS Links)
LAS Linksis used to determine the English language proficiency of ELLs for placement in the English as a Second Language (ESL) program to determine the amount of academic and linguistic support needed.  LAS Links, Form A is used as the initial screener for entering students.  LAS Links Form B is used for annual English language progress monitoring.  Additionally, it is used as part of the ESL Alternate Assessment for ELLs in grades 3-11 to the system-wide assessment, TerraNova, Third Edition Multiple Assessments

Grades 3 through 9: TerraNova TM, Third Edition Multiple Assessments
TerraNova, Third Edition Multiple Assessments measures important higher-order thinking skills as well as basic and applied skills.  These assessments generate norm-referenced achievement scores, criterion-referenced objective mastery scores, and performance-level information.

Grades 3 through11:  English Language Learners, California Achievement Test (CAT) Plus TM
CAT Plus is used as the second part of the ESL Alternate assessment.  Plus Tests are additional basic skills tests in word analysis, vocabulary, language mechanics, spelling, and mathematics computation.  DoDEA uses the mathematic computation Plus Test.
