DGF Elementary celebrated the beginning of Feria in Spain by holding a special assembly. The Sevillana dance instructor, Ms. Yadira Cuba-Bizardi, had her students perform for the school.
The students in the Sevillana Dance Club had been practicing for three months to prepare for the performance. The students were traditional Feria outfits and invited everyone in the school to do the same.So the school was full of colorful polka-dotted dresses, floral prints, ruffles, shawls, cowboy boots, sombreros, and the ever popular flower in the hair. After watching the dance club dance the faculty was asked to come up on stage and dance.
The students cheered their teachers and principal on as they danced. Then a local dance group of girls from El Puerto de Santa Maria, led by dance instructor Paco de Santa Maria, performed two dances; Flamenco and Sevillana. To conclude the performance the audience was asked to participate in some dances. The noise level rose as all stood up and moved their body to the beat of the music and celebrated the start of Feria.
