Student Activities

OAES offers many after school activities throughout the school year. The kinds of activities depend on teacher availability in sponsoring activities and student interest. 

Possible after school activities are listed below.


Fitness / Indoor Team Sports Club

The goal of the Fitness/Indoor Team Sports Club is to teach multiple fitness skills and techniques such as stretching, skipping rope, hula hooping and circuit training. Team sports like indoor soccer, basketball and floor hockey are also covered. 

Math Olympiad

Math Olympiad is a nonprofit International Competition which provides opportunities for children to engage in creative problem solving activities that deepen understanding of mathematical concepts. Participation is intended to develop a child’s ability to reason, to be logical, to be resourceful, and occasionally to be ingenious. Math Olympiad is open to all Osan American Elementary School students in 3rd – 5th grades who exhibit an advanced understanding and love towards math.  

Mexican Dance Club

Baile Folklórico (Traditional Mexican Dance) Students learn and perform dances from the different regions of Mexico. Performances are held for the community and performers wear traditional Mexican costumes.  

National Elementary Honor Society (NEHS)

The National Elementary Honor Society (NEHS) was established in 2008 with two primary purposes: First to recognize elementary students in the 4th and 5th grades who have achieved academic excellence and demonstrated responsibility in their lives. Secondly, to engage those students through the work of the chapter in service and leadership development activities. The NEHS at OAES will work to provide an emphasis for members to learn through service and leadership development.     

Recorder Club

The recorder is an ancient flute that is fairly easy to play. Recorder Club meets on Friday from 2:45 to 3:45. Students learn new fingering to practice during the week. This club is designed for students who want to learn to play an instrument.    

Student Council

OAES Student Council is a school organization, comprised of 4th-5th graders, that helps introduce students to the structures of government. Our group includes elected officers and representatives, in which every member has certain responsibilities and duties. Student Council also does many fundraisers to help OAES and the local community, on and off base. 


Yearbook club members in 4th and 5th grade are responsible for creating pages for the school yearbook. Club members design layouts, get input from the teacher, and take photographs of special events.
