Biography

Ms. Martinez began her career with DoDEA as a second-grade teacher at West Point Elementary School, West Point, New York in 2006. Upon leaving West Point, Ms. Martinez accepted a position teaching third grade at Patrick Kessler Elementary School, Fort Stewart, Georgia. During her tenure at our Ft. Stewart schools, Ms. Martinez was honored with the title of SC/ Fort Stewart/Cuba District Teacher of the Year 2012 and was selected to be a participant in the DoDEA Leadership Academy. Ms. Martinez returned to the NY/ VA Community in 2012 where she taught fourth and fifth grade at Burrows Elementary School.

In 2014, Ms. Martinez was selected as the Assistant Principal for Crossroads Elementary School and played an integral role in integrating three closing schools into a new 21st Century school. In 2016, she accepted the position of Lead Administrator for Dahlgren School on Dahlgren Naval Support Facility. During her time at Dahlgren, she collaborated with DoDEA leadership and her staff to transition the historic building into a collaborative 21st Century Teaching and Learning environment for students in grades PK- 8th grade. In July 2019, Ms. Martinez was selected as the Principal of Crossroads Elementary School on Quantico Marine Base. Her knowledge, expertise, and creative thinking supports the continued growth and development of the staff and students at Crossroads. At each DoDEA school, Ms. Martinez has sought out and successfully held various leadership roles to support the development and academic achievement of military connected students. She has devoted her career to maximizing opportunities for student success and creating a culture that supports the needs of the whole child.

Ms. Martinez is a native of Bartow, Florida. Prior to her career with DoDEA, Ms. Martinez spent six years as an active-duty soldier in the U.S. Army. Ms. Martinez believes in being a life-long learner and has earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Fayetteville State University in Business Administration, a Master of Arts in Teaching from the University of South Carolina, and an EdS in Educational Leadership from Capella University. It is her desire to use the knowledge gained through education and experience to assist our military children, families, and colleagues in their pursuit of academic success.

Ms. Martinez is a proud mom of two military connected children. Her daughter Lauren proudly serves a Lieutenant in the U.S. Army, and son Duane is a student at the University of Maryland.
