Dr. Bernadette Schlueter

Biography

Dr. Bernadette Schlueter, the principal of Feltwell Elementary School, has been working with schools for the last 25 years. Her career in education began as an instructor, College Administrator, Vice President for Academic Affairs, and trustee of JE Mondejar Computer College in the Philippines. She started with DoDEA in 2006 with assignments at Joan K. Mendel Elementary School in Japan, Seoul American Elementary School in Korea, and CDR William C. McCool Elementary/Middle School in Guam. She was the principal at SHAPE American Elementary School in Belgium prior to her current assignment at Feltwell.

She works with all stakeholders to ensure that students come first, whatever it takes. She led her schools in Guam, Belgium, and the United Kingdom to successful accreditation reviews. She established the French immersion program at SHAPE and opened the Sure Start Program at Feltwell. She was a recipient of the Scroll of Appreciation in 2010 from USFK General Walter Sharp, selected as the 2012 DoDEA Korea District Teacher of the Year, and one of the Filipina Women’s Network’s Most Influential Filipina Women of the World in 2016.

Dr. Schlueter received her doctorate degree in Educational Management from The Philippine Women’s University, Master of Education from University of Phoenix, Master of Business Administration from The Philippine Women’s University, and Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of the Philippines.

She is a runner with 364 marathons and ultramarathons in 46 countries and six continents to date. She released three English-Waray children’s books which were also translated to Tagalog, German, and Italian. She also writes a bi-weekly column, Educator’s High.

It is a great honor for her to serve our American military-connected families in the United Kingdom.
