Dr. Christopher Racek

Biography

Dr. Christopher J. Racek earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Liberal Studies from Excelsior College while serving on Active Duty. While working on his Post-Baccalaureate Licensure he was also working towards his Master of Arts Degree. In 2003 he received state licensure and was awarded his Master of Arts in Elementary Education degree from the University of Northern Colorado. In 2008, he was awarded a Doctorate in the area of Leadership in K-12 Programs from Capella University.

Dr. Racek retired from the United States Navy in 2001 as a Chief Petty Officer after a 20-year career. Dr. Racek spent a majority of his Navy career stationed on ships homeported in Japan as well as a tour of duty at an Anti-Submarine Warfare Operations Center and as a classroom instructor. During his time as an instructor his passion for teaching and learning was rekindled and he became determined to become an educator. After Dr. Racek retired, he began to work in schools as a substitute and paraprofessional while completing his post-baccalaureate licensure requirements. Dr. Racek became a teacher with DoDEA in 2003 teaching 6th grade, and multiage 5th and 6th grade before moving into administration. In 2007 Dr. Racek was selected to become an Assistant Principal and in 2009 he was promoted to his first Principal position. 

Dr. Racek has successfully led 6 schools through school or district accreditation with Cognia. He has also served on numerous district and system level task groups and committees. Most recently serving as a member of the Pacific East Steering Committee, which focused on developing the district focus and improvement plans. 

Dr. Racek and his wife, Sumire, have two grown children. Their youngest lives and works in Japan and their oldest is an active duty soldier currently stationed in Fort Johnson. Dr. Racek and his wife are looking forward to exploring the local area and region as this will be their first assignment outside of Japan together.
