Dr. Darnell Dean

Biography

Dr. Dean has twenty-seven years of administrative and teaching experience at the elementary, middle, and high school levels throughout North Carolina and DoDEA Europe. Dr. Dean most recently served as the assistant principal at Naples Middle High School (NMHS).

Dr. Dean graduated from North Carolina Central University with a Bachelor of Science in political science. Fayetteville State University also awarded her a Master of Arts in middle school education and a Master of Arts in education administration. As a teacher, Dr. Dean taught 8th-grade social studies to middle school students and English to high school students at Fayetteville Technical Community College. Her experiences also include coaching sports and sponsoring numerous academic and extracurricular activities, continuous improvement, and supervising special education programs.

Dr. Dean believes that the most crucial component of learning is student improvement. Students can learn and grow in a variety of ways and at varying paces. She thinks that all students can become educated young adults through hard work, dedication, and perseverance. Dr. Dean believes school excellence is created by encouraging, cultivating, and empowering teach leaders. She is a livelong learner who believes in energizing teaches to improve their professional practice to increase student achievement. Visibility, teamwork, and consistently encouraging students to challenge themselves academically will contribute to developing a school atmosphere in which all students thrive.
