Dr. Kewanis Kennedy

Kewanis Kennedy has 14 years of elementary, middle school and high school teaching and administrative experience. He joined DoDEA in 2020 as an emotional impaired instructor at Fort Knox Middle High School and Scott Intermediate School.

Kennedy began his administrative career as an elementary assistant principal and then principal at South Christian Elementary and Christian County Alternative School, both located in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. During his administrative tenure, he assisted South Christian Elementary in dramatically decreasing behavior incidents and was an integral part of the school receiving a gold rating from the Kentucky Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports Network in 2019.

Kennedy accepted the DoDEA role as the emotionally impaired instructor because of his passion in working with students and assisting with their success. He brings that same passion to the role of principal of Marshall Elementary School where he is eager and excited to serve and collaborate with the families and community of Fort Campbell to provide an impactful learning experience for students.

Kennedy earned his bachelor’s degree in communications from Murray State University, a master’s in education, mild learning and behavior disorders from Murray State University, an educational specialist degree in educational leadership from University of the Cumberlands, and his doctorate in education leadership and P-20 learning from Murray State University. For his doctorate, he studied how school violence has impacted the educational experience of American students.

Kennedy comes from a long line of veterans, including his great grandfather (Army), his father (Army) and his wife’s grandfather (Navy). He was born at Blanchfield Army Community Hospital, located in Fort Campbell. Together with his wife Heather, a special education teacher within the Fort Campbell community, they have a family of six children. He enjoys sports, traveling and classic cars.
