Dr. Veronica Rivera
Biography
Dr. Veronica Rivera was named Assistant Principal of the Antilles Elementary School in February 2021. She began her career with DoDEA in 2015 and has more than 14 years of education experience. Prior to her career with DoDEA, she taught elementary grades in Puerto Rico public and private schools.
During previous civilian assignments, Dr. Rivera served as a workshop developer and presenter for Libreria Betances and Claudio, Claudio & Associates; Educational Administrative Coordinator at Dreyfous & Associates; Educational Project Leader and Master Educational Coach at Scholastic, Inc.; Educational Master Trainer at Josephson Institute of Ethics; Assistant Dean and Dean of Academic Affairs at Jose Maria Vargas University; Human Recourses Assistant at the Department of Veterans Affairs; and Transportation Security Officer at the Department of Homeland Security – Transportation Security Administration.
Dr. Rivera also served as an enlisted in the U.S. Army, specializing in Human Resources services. She completed her military career with 10 years of honorable service.
Dr. Rivera holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education with a Minor in Special Education from the University of Puerto Rico, a Master’s Degree in Bicultural-Bilingual Education from the University of Texas, and a Doctoral Degree in Educational Management and Leadership from the InterAmerican University in Puerto Rico.
Dr. Rivera graduated with honors in all three formal education degrees. During her military career she earned the Distinguished Honor Graduate of the Human Resources Specialist Course, Medal of Excellence in Academics, Physical Fitness, and Leadership in the Human Resources Specialist Course, Army Achievement Medal, Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Non Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Army Reserve Component Overseas Training Ribbon, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with Device, and the Army Badge for Physical Fitness.
Dr. Rivera is also enthusiastic about music, and enjoys playing piano, drums, bass guitar, and singing since she was 7 years old. She enjoys everything that has to do with learning. The field of education is her passion. She believes education is so powerful that not only transforms the mind, but also the circumstances.
