Mr. C. Michael Kline

Biography

C. Michael Kline serves as the chief of the Technology and Innovation Division for the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA). In this role, he supervises the DoDEA Virtual School, the Instructional Design Services Branch, and the Headquarters Education Technology and Information Centers Instructional Systems Specialists. Prior to joining DoDEA, Mr. Kline worked for 31 years with Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) in Maryland. His last role was the director of the Leadership Team Development Unit for the Office of Professional Development and School Support. Mr. Kline was also the director of Elementary Leadership Development. In this position, he guided assistant principals, principal interns, and first-year principals in their learning and application of knowledge, skills, and best practices needed to lead a school to maximize student performance. Before he became a central office administrator, Mr. Kline was the principal of Ronald McNair Elementary School in Germantown, Maryland. As principal, his efforts were nationally recognized in Differentiated Treatment in Montgomery County Public Schools, a case study by the Harvard Graduate School of Education and the Harvard Business School. Additionally, McNair was selected to participate in the Enhanced School Improvement Project, which involved a case study of McNair modeled from the Harvard University Business School and Graduate School of Education--Focusing on All Children: The Case of Ronald McNair Elementary.
