Mr. Chester Arizmendi

Mr. Chester J. Arizmendi, from Brownsville, Texas. His career in education spans over two decades and showcases his commitment to developing both students and schools. For eleven years, he taught social studies, band, choir, and music at St. Joseph Academy in Brownsville, Texas. Mr. Arizmendi’s leadership capabilities were recognized, and he was appointed Principal of St. Anthony Catholic School in Harlingen, Texas.

Mr. Arizmendi transitioned to public education with the Brownsville Independent School District. His success in this role led to his appointment as Interim Principal at Stell Middle School. In 2017, Mr. Arizmendi’s became the Principal of Senator Eddie A. Lucio Jr. Middle School. Under his leadership, the school underwent a remarkable transformation. What was once a low-performing campus was elevated to a Texas Education Agency “A” Rated School. The school also earned a prestigious Seven-Star Distinction in key areas including Math, Reading, English, Science, Social Studies, Closing the Gaps, and College Readiness, showcasing Mr. Arizmendi’s commitment to academic excellence.

Mr.  Arizmendi served in the United States Army from 1996 to 1999 in the 101st Airborne Division Band, earning the Army Commendation Medal for his exceptional service. Following his military service, Mr. Arizmendi earned both an associate and bachelor’s degree in criminal law at the University of Texas at Brownsville. He also obtained a master’s degree in educational leadership and completed post graduate studies in the Superintendency Program. His academic achievements were complemented by certifications in Music, Principal, and Superintendent, awarded by the Texas Education Agency.

Mr. Arizmendi is married to his high school sweetheart, Ileana Arizmendi, and they have four children: Chester Jr, Anaeli (1st Lieutenant currently deployed in Romania with the U.S. Army), Michael, and Ileana Cecilia. Mr. Arizmendi is deeply passionate about music, a love that he weaves into his daily life and leadership, often surprising others with his musical performances.
