Mr. Shawn Knudsen

Biography

Shawn Knudsen was born and raised in West Bountiful, Utah, graduating from Weber State University with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics Teaching, and a minor in Physics. Following undergraduate studies, Mr. Knudsen graduated from Capella University and earned a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership.

Mr. Knudsen’s teaching career began at North Sanpete High School, located in Mt. Pleasant, Utah, where he taught mathematics and physics.  In 2000, he joined the DoDEA family, teaching at MC Perry MS/HS located in Iwakuni, Japan.  In 2003, Mr. Knudsen moved to Osan, Korea where he taught at Osan American MS/HS.  In 2014 Mr. Knudsen moved to Okinawa, Japan and served as the assistant principal at Kubasaki High School.  In 2018 Mr. Knudsen began serving as the principal of Patch Middle School, located in Stuttgart, Germany. Throughout his career, he has been an enthusiastic supporter of school and team morale, serving in roles such as school improvement chair, coach and athletic director.

Arriving from Stuttgart Germany, Mr. Knudsen is joined by his spouse, Jihyun, an elementary school teacher. In their spare time, they enjoy riding their e-bikes and travelling.  Mr. Knudsen is thrilled to join the Wildcat family and be a part of the dedicated team of educators and staff enriching students' education and lives at Wiesbaden Middle School.
