Mrs. Jessica S. Thorne

Thorne is familiar with the Fort Moore community, E.A. White Elementary School and military-connected service. She has previously lived on Fort Moore's main post and has proudly served as a Family Readiness Group leader for her husband's former units.

Thorne has more than 16 years as an educator. Most recently, she proudly served as the assistant principal for E. A. White Elementary School. During her time in education, she has held a variety of roles to include fourth and fifth grade teacher and elementary dean within the Columbus, Georgia area, as well as an assistant principal within the Russell County, Alabama area.

Thorne has served in numerous supportive roles, including professional learning facilitator, lead teacher support coach, model classroom teacher, school/continuous improvement plan chairperson, leadership team chairperson, spelling bee coordinator, Teacher of the Year honoree (2014-2015), student growth measure coordinator, parenting liaison and testing coordinator.

It was during her time as a mentor and later lead teacher support coach that she became passionate about growing novice teachers into skilled educators who deliver high-quality, rigorous, standards-based lessons that promote learning and student engagement. She specializes in cultivating leadership in others and shaping a vision of academic success for all students.

Thorne earned her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, a master’s in education from Troy University, a master’s in education leadership from Columbus State University and an education specialist degree in teacher leadership from Walden University. Thorne provides versatility within the learning environment and brings a wide range of educational experiences.

Born and raised in Pennsylvania, Thorne came to Fort Moore, Georgia when her husband received duty orders in 2005. She and her husband decided to make permanent residence outside of the gate in 2009. Thorne and her Army reservist husband Paul have one son and three daughters. Thorne has stated that it is an honor to serve our military families and the students of E.A. White Elementary.
