Mrs. Renee Sharkey

Mrs. Renee Sharkey has been serving as the Professional Learning Instructional Support Specialist for West Point Schools since December of 2021. Mrs. Sharkey has been an educator since 1992. She believes that building strong relationships is one of the key ingredients to having a successful school.

Mrs. Sharkey holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education with a minor in English Literature and Music from William Patterson University. She received her Master of Education degree in Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona University.

In December of 2020, she became the Assistant Principal at West Point Elementary School. She was the administrative lead from June 2021 until September 2021. Prior to arriving at West Point, she was the Assistant Principal at McCool Elementary Middle School on Naval Base Guam since 2016. She began her journey with DoDEA in 2015 as a third-grade teacher in Misawa, Japan.

Her experience includes teaching Prekindergarten (PK) through eighth grade, Elementary Music, Middle School Math, Middle School Social Studies, and mentoring at-risk high school students. She later became a Director in a Prekindergarten (PK) through 8th grade private school in New Jersey, where she was responsible for professional development for teachers, planning family engagement activities, selecting and purchasing school curriculum, and overseeing the school budget. She has experience teaching at Title I Schools and Blue-Ribbon Schools throughout New Jersey and Arizona. During her tenure in Arizona, Mrs. Sharkey was responsible for creating district-wide policies to include emergency management planning with state and county officials; was highly active in her community and served as a local board member for youth and teen athletic programs.

As an administrator, part of her responsibilities include: leading Continuous School Improvement SQF Committees, Professional Development Workshops, student discipline, overseeing the CSC Committee and special education conferences, planning logistics for emergency management, scheduling, and arranging study trips in collaboration with command sponsorship.

Mrs. Sharkey is excited to continue her partnership with the WPES faculty, students, and West Point community.
