Ms. Amanda J. McDonald

Biography

Ms. McDonald began her career in education in 2011. She started teaching for DoDEA at Yokota Air Force Base in Japan. During her time at Yokota West Elementary, Ms. McDonald taught second, third, fourth, and fifth grades as well as a four/five multiage class. In 2017, Ms. McDonald reported to Camp Humphreys and taught third grade at Humphreys West Elementary School.

Ms. McDonald has held several teacher leadership positions. During her time with DoDEA, she has served as Continuous School Improvement (CSI) Chair, Co-Chair or CSI Advisor every year.

She has also served as a member of the School Advisory Committees at both Yokota West and Humphreys West. She has been a member of the District Advisory Committee and the Instillation Advisory Committee at Camp Humphreys. At Humphreys West ES she has served as Faculty Representative for the PTSO. She has also been a Grade Level Chair. She supported her colleagues as a FRS at Yokota West. In 2019, she was selected to be part of the Pacific West PBL team.

Ms. McDonald earned her Bachelor Degree in Business Administration from McMurry University. Prior to teaching, Amanda worked for Classroom Connect, a Harcourt Education Company, as the National Sales Operations Manager. During this time she attended and supported the company at national educational technology conferences and professional development conferences hosted by Classroom Connect. She received a Masters of Arts in Education in Elementary Education from the University of Phoenix and joined DoDEA at that time.

Ms. McDonald has been affiliated with the US Military for over 30 years, both as a military spouse and as a DoDEA educator. She is the proud mother of a DoDEA graduate – her daughter, Taylor. “I have been fortunate to be a part of the military community for many years. We serve a very unique and special group of students. It is truly an honor for me to support our military connected students, and I look forward to the opportunity to continue to serve the military community at Kadena Elementary School.

In her spare time, Amanda enjoys traveling, playing golf, and spending time with family and friends whenever possible.
