Ms. Anita S. Magrath

Biography

Ms. Magrath is a highly experienced instructional leader who began her educational career in Fairfax County Public Schools in Northern Virginia as a first-grade teacher. Early in her career she realized the importance of the connection of social emotional learning and academic learning which led her to become a school counselor. During her years as a counselor, Ms. Magrath initiated an award-winning mentor program and created a highly successful social-emotional program for her students. Her mentor recognized a budding leader and steered her in the direction of administration. She served as an assistant principal for ten years in Fairfax before becoming a principal in the neighboring county at Prince William County Public Schools.

Ms. Magrath enthusiastically joined DoDEA in November 2020 at Sollars Elementary in Misawa Japan. While at Sollars ES, she focused on building strong collaborative teams with a focus on academic excellence. Her educational philosophy is simple, do whatever it takes to create an engaging learning environment for all students. She believes “no significant learning can occur without a significant relationship.”

Ms. Magrath received her bachelor’s degree in Education from George Mason University. She earned her master's degree in School Counseling from Virginia Tech University. Ms. Magrath completed her credentials towards School Administration and Supervision from the University of Virginia.

Ms. Magrath enjoys serving the Cranes at Yokota West as well as the Yokota community!
