Ms. Bonnie Ramos

Ms. Ramos began her DoDEA career in 2022 at Vilseck High School on Rose Barracks in Bavaria, Germany where she taught mathematics. Before moving to Germany, Ms. Ramos taught both high school mathematics and special education in San Antonio, Texas and Columbia County, Georgia for 15 years. Ms. Ramos has held numerous leadership roles to include Building Leadership Team, Mathematics Department Coordinator, Special Services Department Coordinator, New Teacher Mentor, Head Tennis Coach, Student Government, Class, and Graduation Sponsor. She has also presented at numerous pedagogical conferences in the areas of co-teaching, reaching all learners in mathematics, technology integration in the mathematics classroom, and coaching for teachers.

Ms. Ramos was born in Honolulu, Hawaii and moved in tandem with her father’s Navy career.  She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics Education from Greensboro College in Greensboro, North Carolina, a master’s in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Texas at San Antonio, an Educational Specialist in Curriculum and Instruction from Augusta University in Augusta, Georgia and is currently pursuing an Educational Doctorate in Curriculum Studies from Georgia Southern University. Growing up in a military community and having a husband who served in the Air Force has given her a unique understanding of the experiences and needs of military-connected staff and students.

Her educational vision includes a shift in focus from purely academic achievement to fostering caring, empathetic relationships between educators and students. Ms. Ramos believes in a Whole Child approach which supports a holistic perspective that considers all dimensions of a child’s well-being. In her spare time, she enjoys playing tennis, crafting, and traveling and riding her e-bike with her husband. She is passionate about working with youth and is excited to be part of Yokosuka community.
