Ms. Dana Sutherland

Biography

Mrs. Sutherland started her career in education as a high school mathematics and chemistry teacher quickly earning additional teaching certifications in language arts, social studies, and special education; and volunteering at school as a certified ROPES course instructor to better serve the needs of her students. She began the transition to school administration by serving as the assistant to the Area 2 Superintendent in AISD.

Mrs. Sutherland joined DoDEA in 2001 as assistant principal at Lejeune High School and has also served as assistant principal at Brewster Middle School and Johnson Primary School. While assistant principal, she served the Camp Lejeune Community as a part-time weekend or evening mathematics instructor for Campbell University's satellite campus located at the John A. Lejeune Base Education Center for 16 years. In 2017 she returned to Lejeune High School as assistant principal and transitioned to principal. Mrs. Sutherland is honored to return home to Brewster Middle School and continue to serve DoDEA, Camp Lejeune Community Schools, and the community as principal of Brewster Middle School. 

Ms. Sutherland earned her undergraduate and two master's degrees from Texas State University at San Marcos, formerly known as Southwest Texas State University.  She graduated Summa Cum Laude with a bachelor's in mathematics and a minor in chemistry.  She returned to the university on two other occasions to earn a master's in mathematics with a minor in biochemistry and a master's in educational administration.
