Ms. Erin Crossan
Biography
Ms. Erin Crossan began her career as an F-16 Â aircraft mechanic in the United States Air Force. In her twelve years of active-duty service, she was responsible for running flight-line operations and supervising maintenance sections. In 2002, Erin Crossan left active duty to become an AF Reservist. In this capacity, she served as a mobility specialist in charge of ensuring the fighter squadron was 100% mobility ready. While enlisted, she also pursued her love of learning by earning her Bachelor of Arts in English Literature. Â
After moving to Hill AFB, Ms. Crossan transitioned from serving the military to serving her community when she accepted a role as an assistant teacher at Evergreen Elementary School, working with 1st through 4th graders. This experience further sparked her passion for education, which led to a Master of Arts in Education. As a military spouse, she continued her education career at her next duty station as a middle school educational aide and then, as a long-term substitute ELA teacher at Aviano Middle High School.
In 2017, Ms. Crossan joined the Southeast District as an ELA teacher at Fort Campbell High School, where she taught 9th through 11th grade. Her passion for providing military-connected students with the best possible education led to her being nominated for the 2019-2020 Educator of Promise Award and, later, being selected as the 2022 Southeast Teacher of the Year. Her years as the school’s continuous school improvement and focus collaboration chairperson, as well as her participation in the Teacher Leader Fellowship program, inspired her to complete an Ed.S in Educational Administration and Leadership.
Ms. Crossan’s 33 years of military-connected experience as an airman, military spouse, mother of two military-connected children, and DoDEA teacher gives her first-hand knowledge about the needs of the military community she serves. Providing the children in this community with a stellar education in a safe, inclusive environment despite the transitions and hardships that accompany the military lifestyle is why she chooses to work for DoDEA.Â
