Ms. Judie Thomas

Biography

Judie Thomas began her career in education as a paraprofessional for Hardin County Schools (Elizabethtown, KY). She joined DoDEA in 2002 as an elementary teacher at Mudge Elementary School before joining the staff of Van Voorhis Elementary at Fort Knox, Kentucky.  Ms. Thomas worked for the Bureau of Indian Education as an Education Specialist from 2016-2018. During this time, she supported 17 schools in the Southeast Region in their school improvement efforts. Ms. Thomas’ past experiences include Teacher Leader, Grade Level Chair, Continuous School Improvement Team Chair, Professional Learning Community Chair, Data Coordinator, Response-to-Intervention Co-chair and Multi-tiered Systems of Support Team Member.

Ms. Thomas has spent all of her life around the military community. She is a proud Army brat who grew up attending DoDEA schools from Kindergarten through 8th grade and is a retired Chief Petty Officer (USN).  Ms. Thomas credits her life-long connection to the military with her intrinsic ability to bond with students and families.  

Ms. Thomas received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from Western Kentucky University and a Master of Arts in School Principalship from University of Nebraska at Kearney.

Ms. Thomas currently resides in Elizabethtown, Kentucky and has one son and two grandchildren.
