Ms. Karen Mills
Biography
Karen Mills has been selected as the new Assistant Principal of Stuttgart High School in Stuttgart, Germany. She arrived from Iwakuni, Japan, where she served as guidance counselor at MC Perry Primary School for two years. Before joining DoDEA in 2020, she worked for the Enterprise City Schools in Enterprise, AL for 25 years where she served as District 504 and State Testing Coordinator for two years, Assistant Principal at Enterprise High School for eleven years, and Guidance Counselor and 4th grade teacher at Hillcrest Elementary School for twelve years. While working and living in the Enterprise area, Ms. Mills fostered strong relationships with the military community from Ft. Novosel (formally Ft. Rucker). Ms. Mills is excited to be serving high school students again where she has a passion to support college and career goals, social and emotional learning, and a rigorous curriculum, including a strong AP program.
Ms. Mills received her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Troy University, Master’s in School Counseling from Troy University Dothan, and Master’s in Education Leadership from University of South Alabama. She has continued to take graduate level courses throughout her career as she believes in setting an example to students, especially high school students, of life-long learning. Throughout her career, she has developed strong communication and problem-solving skills, always prioritizing the success of all students, both academically and emotionally. Ms. Mills has always maintained a strong working relationship with other educators, parents, and the community. Karen was raised in Florida but lived and worked in the Enterprise, Alabama area for several years before moving to Iwakuni, Japan. She is the proud mother of four amazing adult children, She is Nana to grandchildren in Alabama, Tennessee, and Virginia. She looks forward to many new travels as her family visits her in Europe.Â
