Biography
Introducing Ms. Lindsay Goldsmith, the new Assistant Principal at SHAPE American Elementary School. With a passion for education and a diverse range of experiences, Lindsay is eager to bring her expertise to her new role. Lindsay's journey in education began as a first-grade teacher, where she nurtured young minds and laid the foundation for their academic journey. Over the years, she expanded her horizons, teaching 6th-grade science, and later, 3rd grade, gaining a deeper understanding of the different age groups' needs and challenges.
Recognizing the importance of supporting students with diverse backgrounds and languages, Lindsay transitioned to become an English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) teacher. In this role, she worked to foster an inclusive learning environment where all students could harness their language-based assets to excel academically. Her dedication to the ESOL program and her love for the wonderful diversity of the student population have been at the core of her educational mission.
Throughout her 13-year teaching career, Ms. Goldsmith has been actively involved in shaping the school's continuous improvement initiatives. As the Continuous School Improvement Chair (CSI) for three years and a long-time member of CSI, she has been instrumental in driving positive change and fostering a dynamic learning environment. Furthermore, Ms. Goldsmith has demonstrated her commitment to the field of ESOL by serving as the ESOL chair, where she has had the privilege of engaging in and contributing to exceptional leadership opportunities. Notably, she also took on the role of Co-Chair for DoDEA's Balanced Assessment System Specialized Groups Working Group Instructional Focus Subcommittee, for which she is immensely grateful. These experiences have enriched her professional journey and further fueled her dedication to making a positive impact in the education community.
Lindsay's educational journey has been one of constant growth and self-improvement. She earned her Bachelor's of Science in Elementary Education from the University of Central Oklahoma, setting a solid foundation for her career. Understanding the importance of catering to the needs of English language learners, she pursued a Master's degree in ESOL from Jones International University. Additionally, recognizing the significance of inclusive education, Lindsay also earned a Master's degree in Special Education from the University of Maryland. Lindsay's hunger for knowledge and her commitment to making a difference in the educational landscape led her to embark on a Ph.D. journey. Currently working on her Doctorate in Organizational Leadership in Education from Liberty University, she aims to enhance her leadership skills and contribute
further to the field of education.
Outside the realm of education, Lindsay cherishes her roles as a wife and mother. With the support of her loving husband and her four-year-old daughter, she approaches her new role as Assistant Principal with a sense of excitement and optimism. Lindsay Goldsmith remains enthusiastic about her ongoing collaboration with students, families, and the SHAPE American Elementary School community. Her unwavering dedication, wealth of experience, and profound passion for education undoubtedly promise to foster a positive impact on the school's future.
