Ms. Shelia Gilliard

Ms. Gilliard received a bachelor’s in education from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1987, a Masters of Reading Education from Fayetteville State University in 2003, and a Masters of School Administration from Fayetteville State University in 2006. She taught English and Social Studies in Cumberland County Schools for 20 years. In 2006, Ms. Gilliard began her administrative career as an assistant principal at John Griffin Middle School and then followed by principalships in Hoke County Schools and Moore County Schools before joining DoDEA.  For the past seven years, Ms. Gilliard has been the principal of Brewster Middle School on Camp Lejeune.  Brewster Middle School has been a family for me for the past seven years. It has been an honor to serve Brewster Middle School staff, students, and this community.  

The DoDEA system embodies the core values of an innovative 21st Century and world-class institution where a quality education for all students is seen as priority.  These core values resonate with my educational philosophy and core values.  What an honor it is to support our military connected families through the power of a quality education.

I look forward to serving and building strong collaborative relationships with our teachers, parents, and community as we forge a growth mindset for our students that will last a lifetime.  Most importantly, I look forward to seeing those bright and eager young people come through the doors of DeLalio Elementary each day.  Let’s go Dolphins!
