Ms. Valerie Edison
Biography
Ms. Valerie Edison, a native of Westerville, Ohio, brings a rich tapestry of experience and dedication to her role as Assistant Principal. A proud US Army Combat Medic Veteran, Ms. Edison served with distinction during her tour in Iraq, showcasing her commitment to service and leadership.
After returning from Iraq in 2005, Ms. Edison began her education career as a teacher. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Education from Ohio Dominican University and has furthered her expertise with two Master of Arts degrees in Education: one in Special Education from Mount Vernon Nazarene University and another in Educational Administration from The Ohio State University. Additionally, she earned a Master of Science in Data Science from Eastern University, reflecting her commitment to continuous learning and innovation.
Ms. Edison quickly advanced in her career, becoming a curriculum writer and educational researcher for the largest online school in the United States. Her journey with DoDEA began in Yokosuka, Japan, where she served as a math teacher at Yokosuka Middle School. During her tenure, she held various leadership positions, including CSI Chair, Data Chair, SAC Chair, Math Department Chair, Focused Collaboration Leader, and served on numerous committees dedicated to improving teaching and learning for students.
In 2023, Ms. Edison assumed the role of Professional Learning ISS, working with schools in Puerto Rico and Cuba. She is a firm believer in educating the whole child in an engaging, student-centered environment. As a mother of two active service members and a grandmother to a military-connected student, she understands the unique challenges and importance of educating military-connected students.
Ms. Edison and her husband, Mark, are extremely excited to continue exploring Puerto Rico and being a part of the team at Antilles High School. Her diverse background, combined with her passion for education and dedication to military families, makes her an invaluable asset to the school community.
