Ms. Virginia Espree
Biography
The Georgia-Alabama Community Superintendent, Dr. Lisa B. Coleman, is pleased to announce Virginia Espree as the Assistant Principal of Morris R. McBride Elementary School in the Southeast District at Fort Moore, Georgia. Ms. Espree, originally from Opelousas, Louisiana, is a proud U.S. Army Veteran. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Columbia College in Missouri, a Master of Education with a concentration in Special Education from Virginia Commonwealth University, and an Educational Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership and Administration from Grand Canyon University. Ms. Espree firmly believes in the lifelong learning process as essential for promoting a growth mindset. Ms. Espree will assume her duties on November 18, 2024.
Ms. Espree began her education career in 1999 as a special education teacher in Richmond, VA. Following her service at Richmond City Public Schools, she relocated to Atlanta, Georgia, in 2001, where she served as the Special Education Department Chair at Tri-Cities High School in Fulton County, and taught inclusion classes for special education. She later transitioned to Towers High School in DeKalb County, Georgia, where she served as the Special Education Department Chair and taught inclusion classes for special education.
Ms. Espree began her DODEA career in Yokosuka, Japan, as a Special Education Assessor and Learning Impaired Mild/Moderate (LIMM) teacher in 2006. Throughout her tenure with DODEA, she held various roles, including LIMS teacher at Naples Elementary School in Naples, Italy and Ramstein Intermediate School in Ramstein, Germany. Ms. Espree also served as a Special Education Assessor at Antilles Complex in Puerto Rico, an Emotionally Impaired (EI) teacher at Irwin Intermediate School in Ft. Liberty, North Carolina, a Case Study Committee (CSC) Chair and LIMM teacher at Sigonella Middle High School in Sigonella, Italy, and a CSC Chair and LIMM teacher at Spangdahlem Middle School in Spangdahlem, Germany.
In 2022, Ms. Espree was promoted to an administrative position in DODEA, becoming the assistant principal at McCool Elementary Middle School in Santa Rita, Guam. With a focus on instructional leadership, Ms. Espree took on the role of Special Education Administrator for Pre-K through 8th grade, dedicated to establishing an environment where students can flourish. She strongly advocates for learning communities that embrace and accommodate individual learning styles, and she remains committed to upholding excellence and student well-being and promoting a positive school culture alongside parents and stakeholders. As an administrator, Ms. Espree is deeply invested in fostering relationships and building partnerships with all stakeholders to ensure that every student receives exceptional instruction. Having served in the U.S. Army and raised three children who attended DODEA Schools, she has firsthand military experience. She is unwavering in her commitment to supporting military-connected students.
Outside of work, Ms. Espree enjoys traveling and creating cherished memories with her five grandchildren. She is enthusiastic about the opportunity to contribute to the McBride Elementary School Community and is eager to establish strong connections with students, families, and the educational staff.
