Ms. Y-Keyla Perry
Biography
Ms. Y-Keyla Perry is a native of Henderson, North Carolina. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from Winston Salem State University and both her Master of Arts: Curriculum and Instruction and a Master of Arts in Executive Leadership at Gardner-Webb University. During her collegiate career, Ms. Perry was a member of the Thurgood Marshall Teacher Quality and Retention Program. Ms. Perry credits much of her success to the many conferences, webinars, and educational institutes provided through the Thurgood Marshall College Foundation.
Ms. Perry began her career as an educator with North Carolina Public Schools where she served as a first, third, and fourth-grade teacher. She also completed her School Administration internship as well as served as a Math Instructional Coach during this time. While an educator in NC Public Schools, Ms. Perry was identified as a Highly Qualified Teacher and recognized as a Top 25% teacher twice for exceeding student growth requirements. Upon completion of her Master of Arts in Executive Leadership, Ms. Perry accepted a position as a Title 1 Instructional Coach with Danville Public Schools in Danville, Virginia, and served until she joined DODEA in 2019.
Ms. Perry comes to Camp Lejeune Schools from Fort Knox Community Schools where she served as the Professional Learning Instructional Systems Specialist. During her time with DoDEA, she also served as a third-grade teacher at C.C. Pinckney Elementary School.
When enjoying free time, Ms. Perry enjoys shopping, vacations, and reading. Ms. Perry also cherishes the special moments she shares with her family, especially her nieces and nephews. She is thankful for the support consistently received from them over the years.
Ms. Perry is grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the Camp Lejeune Community and looks forward to continuing to support military-connected families.
