Sarah Morris

Ms. Susan Morris is the interim principal for Elliott Elementary. With a passion for fostering a love of learning in young minds, she brings 25 years of experience in education, where she’s had the joy of guiding students through their foundational years Her educational philosophy emphasizes creating a supportive and engaging classroom environment that fosters curiosity and creativity. Ms. Morris believes in the power of collaboration—not only among students but also with parents and the wider community.

A proud member of the DoDEA community since the early 2000s, Ms. Morris has had a diverse career that includes teaching Social Studies and AVID at the middle and high school levels in Germany, serving as an instructional coach in the Kingdom of Bahrain, and working as the Secondary Social Studies Instructional Systems Specialist in the Pacific South and Americas Southeast Districts. Her outstanding contributions to education were recognized when she was named the Heidelberg District Teacher of the Year in 2010 and later honored as the DoDEA State Teacher of the Year.

Currently, as part of the Americas Southeast District team, Ms. Morris serves as the Assessment and Accountability Instructional Systems Specialist. In this vital role, she supports administrators and school teams in enhancing teaching, learning, and assessment practices across the District’s 24 schools.

Before joining DoDEA, Ms. Morris made significant contributions to education in the U.S. Territory of Guam and at Verdala International School in Malta, where she taught in both public and private sectors. A proud native of Georgia, she holds a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Education degree from the University of Georgia.

As a military child, spouse, and mother, Ms. Morris possesses a deep understanding of the unique needs of DoDEA’s students and families. Her unwavering commitment to continuous improvement and organizational excellence makes her an invaluable asset to the educational community.
