Combative Sports
The Combative Sports (year-long) course provides a variety of opportunities for students to demonstrate martial arts knowledge and competencies in motor skills, movement patterns and strategies needed to perform a variety of associated physical activities. Students will achieve a level of physical fitness for health and performance. This course allows students to demonstrate knowledge of psychological and sociological concepts, principles, and strategies as they apply to learning and performance of physical activity. Course Note: This course satisfies the Elective (1 of 5 credits) graduation requirement. This course should be taught by an instructor licensed or certified to teach Martial arts. The course instructor should also be able to provide appropriate safety procedures to mitigate any risk involved with students taking the course. Course instructional resources should be relevant and applicable to the course's content.
