David Kretz
Biography
David Kretz currently serves as the Europe Central District Chief of Staff for the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA). Prior to his current position, Mr. Kretz served as a Program Analyst at the DoDEA Europe Region Office from October 2017 to September 2024, where he managed the region’s student eligibility and transformation programs.
Mr. Kretz joined DoDEA Europe in 2009. He served as the Administrative Officer for Smith Elementary and Baumholder Middle/High School from August 2009 to October 2017, leading multiple school support functions.
Before joining DoDEA, Mr. Kretz served as a U.S. Army infantry and maintenance officer with the 1st Armored Division in Baumholder, Germany. Born and raised in Antigo, Wisconsin, Mr. Kretz holds a history degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Master of Public Administration from Central Michigan University.
Mr. Kretz’s spouse, Heidi, is currently an English Language Arts teacher at Ramstein High School. Their sons, Charlie and Leo, attend DoDEA schools.
