National Day of Mourning to Honor President James Earl Carter, Jr

The President has issued an executive order that all executive departments and agencies of the Federal Government shall be closed on 9 January 2025, as a mark of respect for James Earl Carter, Jr., the thirty-ninth President of the United States.  All Federal employees are excused from duty for the scheduled workday on Thursday, 9 January 2025, except those who, in the judgment of the head of the agency, must report for duty for reasons of national security, defense, or other public need. 

In observance of the National Day of Mourning, all DoDEA organizations, including all schools, will be closed on Thursday, 9 January 2025.  The DoDEA Region Directors for Student Excellence have the authority to approve exceptions to this closure guidance for special events already in progress when recommended by a DoDEA District Superintendent.
