A Galactic Celebration
OKINAWA – On the 6th of May, 2024, Ryukyu Middle School and Bechtel Elementary School Information centers transformed into a galaxy far, far away for the inaugural “Revenge of the Sixth” celebration.
This stellar event featured a constellation of activity stations, including a photo booth, lightsaber creation, Yoda origami, and Star Wars trivia, orbiting both sides of the currently combined RYMS and BES Information Center.
In elementary, students engaged with a Star Wars book that promoted a growth mindset and social-emotional learning (SEL). The parent-teacher organization of both schools joined forces to provide a variety of decorations and prizes for the most creatively dressed participants. The force was strong with our students and staff, who arrived in their best galactic attire, adding to the festive spirit. The highlight of the day was a visit from the local Okinawa Star Wars costuming group. The professional character actors provided an unforgettable Meet & Greet, making the rounds in various classrooms and bringing smiles to young Padawans and Jedi Masters alike.
