Kadena Air Base schools recognize Month of the Military Child with helicopter landings on campus

Airmen assigned to the 31st and 33rd Rescue Squadrons at Kadena Air Base land a helicopter on the Kadena Elementary School campus Tuesday, April 22, 2025. Bechtel Elementary, Kadena Elementary, and Ryukyu Middle students explore the aircraft, learn about military equipment, and speak with airmen about their careers.

OKINAWA, JAPAN – Military-connected students clapped and waved with excitement as the 31st and 33rd Rescue Squadrons landed helicopters on school campuses across Kadena Air Base on Tuesday, April 22, 2025.

Airmen engaged with students at Amelia Earhart Intermediate, Bechtel Elementary, Bob Hope Elementary, Kadena Elementary, Kadena Middle, Kadena High, Ralph Stearley Primary, and Ryukyu Middle schools, answering questions about aircraft, equipment, and their careers. 

Students enjoyed climbing into the helicopter, sitting in the cockpit, and taking turns trying on helmets and headsets.
