FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. — Kentucky First Lady Britainy Beshear visited Marshall Elementary School and Fort Campbell High School to honor military children during the Month of the Military Child, recognizing their resilience and the schools’ role in supporting them.

At Marshall Elementary, Principal Dr. Kewanis Kennedy and Assistant Principal Rachel Henley welcomed Ms. Beshear. She toured the school, visiting a moderate-to-severe learning-impaired classroom, where she helped students and commended the teachers. She read Go Ahead and Make Your Wish by Darren Farrell to Pre-K students, engaging them with the story about the dandelion, a symbol of military children. Fifth-graders gave her a plaque, and she visited a first-grade classroom and outdoor garden, discussing plant projects with students. Dr. Kennedy presented Month of the Military Child gift boxes to Ms. Beshear and her team. She praised the school’s education quality and expressed interest in expanding pre-kindergarten programs in Kentucky, inspired by the DoDEA’s Universal Pre-K initiative.

At Fort Campbell High School, Principal Jaime Romero, Administrative Officer Mallory Kolmerten, and student Avaley Moore, Kentucky Military Youth of the Year, greeted Ms. Beshear. She visited an AP Research class, discussing students’ projects and noting their strong work. A robotics team demonstrated their competition robots, answering her questions confidently. Mr. Romero gave her a basket of school items.

Ms. Beshear’s visit highlighted her support for military children, a cause she has consistently supported through school visits across Kentucky, including Fort Campbell and Fort Knox. Her time at both schools underscored the importance of education and community for military-connected students.
