NY Giants Alumni Visit Vilseck Schools
Students at Vilseck Elementary and High Schools received a unique visit from former New York Giants wide receivers Victor Cruz and Brandon London on Nov. 7, 2024. Known for their athleticism, skill, and championship experience, the players energized and inspired students as they shared highlights from their NFL careers and encouraged students to pursue their passions on and off the field.
Cruz and London, who both played for Super Bowl-winning Giants teams—Cruz with Super Bowl XLVI and London with Super Bowl XLII—demonstrated some football techniques, including tips on footwork, agility, and catching techniques, giving students a firsthand look at the athleticism required for professional football. In between autograph sessions, the players led a few fun football drills with students, showing them the fundamentals of the game while promoting teamwork, perseverance, and sportsmanship.
"We were thrilled to welcome Victor Cruz and Brandon London to our school," said Jennifer Sears, principal of Vilseck Elementary School. "Their visit brought such excitement and joy to our students, and their stories of hard work and dedication truly inspired everyone. It’s not every day that our students get to meet real-life sports champions, and we’re grateful for this opportunity to show them what’s possible with commitment and teamwork."
Students and faculty gathered eagerly to take photos, get autographs, and listen to the players’ stories of overcoming obstacles in their sports careers. The excitement continued as Cruz and London handed out Giants-themed hats and keychains, with many students proudly wearing their new gear for the rest of the day.
The visit was a collaborative effort with the support of the local garrison, whose staff helped organize this special opportunity. The event comes just days before the Giants’ upcoming game against the Carolina Panthers in Munich, adding to the anticipation and excitement for football fans in the community.
“We’re so grateful to the garrison for bringing these sports icons to our schools,” said Vilseck High School Assistant Principal Jacquelyn Koenig. “Victor Cruz and Brandon London shared an unforgettable message of resilience, sportsmanship, and passion that our students will carry with them.”
