Mr. Richard Stone
As the administrative officer at Sembach Elementary School in Germany, Richard Stone serves as the Sembach 21st Century Elementary School construction project liaison. He effectively identifies and elevates problematic areas and resolves issues utilizing DoDEA facility and maintenance operating guidelines. He promotes team building and fosters strong relationships across various international organizations involved in this multi-million-dollar project.
Stone expertly managed the annual school budget, using analytical skills to identify short- and long-term purchase goals while adhering to fiscal constraints. He skillfully utilized the supply chain communication network, identifying and repurposing serviceable goods bound for disposition, saving $42K from the annual supply budget. Stone interpreted source data for future deliverables, acquired $25K in additional funding for unfunded requirements, improved facility areas to include flexible seating furniture and print/display technology, and advanced DoDEA's 21st century education mission. He also coordinated military volunteers to assist with classroom furniture setup, movement, and disposal saving DoDEA thousands of dollars related to this work.
Stone utilized the districtwide supply technician network, locating and obtaining unused or dated equipment to include desks, chairs, and shelving for classroom and administrative office reuse. An estimated $25K savings was achieved by reuse of DoDEA furnishings and accessories. These cost saving efforts not only positively impacted Sembach Elementary but multiple facilities across the district.
Stone stepped in and supported Sembach Elementary performing all registrar duties, in addition to his administrative officer duties, for four months. This included not only registration, withdrawal, and records upkeep, but all that is involved with the most detailed and busy time of the year for that position. He continued with learning the new aspects of the DoDEA Student Information System (DSIS) Family Portal and supported not only the parents but the staff as well during the acquisition of the new program.
Stone consistently exceeds his duties as an administrative officer, serving students, staff, parents, and community members with efficiency, professionalism, kindness, and urgency. He is highly respected by all for his excellence and dedication, working selflessly out of love for the children and the Sembach Elementary community.
