National School Psychology Week

During the week of November 11-15, 2024 schools throughout DoDEA will celebrate National School Psychology Awareness Week to highlight the important work our school psychologists and other educators do to help all students thrive.

This year's theme, "Spark Discovery," recognizes the work that school psychologists do to help their communities seek out new ideas, effect change, and expand horizons for children and youth.

Our hope is to connect with students and staff to highlight how each person's contribution to the collective can lead us forward. Just as we continue developing individually and with our own skills through collaboration and with support from others, we in turn can help others foster resilience and support those who need it.

Celebrate #SchoolPsychWeek on social media by highlighting the dedicated school psychologists supporting our students as they learn and grow.

National Association of School Psychologists

The National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) sponsors this national event. NASP represents and supports the profession of school psychology by advancing effective practices to improve students' learning, behavior and mental health, and by maintaining essential standards for ethics and practice.

Visit the NASP website for an excellent selection of adaptable resources to help you reach out to families, educators, administrators, and other members of your school community to make them aware of your activities during National School Psychology Week and your work around the year to help schools and students thrive.

What School Psychologists Do?

School psychologists provide direct support and interventions to students; consult with teachers, families, and other school-employed mental health professionals (i.e., school counselors, school social workers) to improve support strategies; work with school administrators to improve school-wide practices and policies; and collaborate with community providers to coordinate needed services. Visit DoDEA’s School Psychological Services to learn more.
