David Kretz selected as Europe Central District Chief of Staff

Dr. Louis D’Angelo, Department of Defense Education Activity – Europe Central Superintendent, announces the selection of Mr. David Kretz as the Europe Central Chief of Staff. 

Kretz, a seasoned DoDEA Europe leader, will be joining the Europe Central District in Sept. as the District Chief of Staff in Kaiserslautern, Germany. “Kretz’s exceptional track record and deep commitment to DoDEA Europe make him a strong addition to our leadership team. His vision and experience will drive us forward and elevate our district to new heights,” said Dr. D’Angelo, DoDEA Europe Central District Superintendent. 

Prior to his current position, Kretz served as a Program Analyst at the DoDEA Europe Region Office from Oct.2017 to Sept. 2024, where he managed the region’s student eligibility and transformation programs.

Kretz joined DoDEA Europe in 2009. He was the Administrative Officer for Smith Elementary and Baumholder Middle/High School from Aug. 2009 to Oct. 2017, leading multiple school support functions.

Before joining DoDEA, Kretz served as a U.S. Army infantry and maintenance officer with the 1st Armored Division in Baumholder, Germany. Born and raised in Antigo, Wisconsin, Kretz holds a history degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Master of Public Administration from Central Michigan University.

 Kretz’s spouse is an English Language Arts teacher for DoDEA Europe and their two sons attend DoDEA schools.
