PEACHTREE CITY, Ga —

The Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) Americas is pleased to announce Ken Robinson as the new Career and Technical Education (CTE) Instructional Systems Specialist (ISS). With over two decades of experience in education, technology, and program development, Robinson is dedicated to expanding CTE opportunities for students.

Robinson began his DoDEA career in 2001 as a Computer Specialist in Wiesbaden, Germany. After a decade in IT, he transitioned to education, spending 22 years at Kaiserslautern High School, where he integrated CTE into cross-curricular experiences. His initiatives include the school’s first STEM letter, the National Technical Honor Society, and Project Horizon, a high-altitude balloon program. He also helped establish SkillsUSA in Europe East and launched the Community Partnership Program to connect CTE teachers with industry experts.

“Ken Robinson has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to CTE and STEM education, creating pathways for student success,” said Dr. Judith Minor, DoDEA Americas Director for Student Excellence. “The Americas looks forward to gaining from Ken’s experience enhancing students’ career readiness as it will be invaluable to our CTE programs across the Americas region.”

Robinson’s contributions to STEM education have earned him multiple accolades, including the 2024 Air Force Association National STEM Teacher of the Year Runner-Up and recognition as a 2023 DoD STEM Ambassador. A U.S. Air Force veteran, he holds graduate degrees in STEM Education and Human Resource Management, along with a bachelor’s degree in Electronics Management.

Originally from Rhode Island, Robinson will be joined in his new role by his wife, Tanja, and their Shih Tzu, Lucia. In his free time, he enjoys playing hockey—perhaps more often than he should.

“I’ve always believed that if you create the right opportunities, students will rise to meet them,” said Robinson. “I’m honored to take on this role and look forward to strengthening CTE programs for DoDEA students.”
