DoDEA-Europe Boys All-Stars - Winter 2024

Host Location: USAG Bavaria Vilseck/Grafenwoehr Community 

General Information: 

Training sessions will be held Friday Feb 23(2 per day) Vilseck HS and/or Memorial Gym

Competition Saturday at VHS -  3 pt Shootout and Team Skills Competition 1000 am on Saturday    Game starts at 1400

1. Number of Players per team: 10
   1. Teams will be selected
2. Team Composition:
   1.  Players invited based on nominations
   2. 10 total per team 

Selection Process 

Nomination Process Opens via the Google Form

Nominations must be entered by Feb. 1

• Three Nominees per Team 
• Coaches rank their players (1, 2, 3 - #1 their top player)
• Provide name, position, grade and comments for each player nominated
• A Selection Committee will make the final determination
  1. The 2024 Committee will meet virtually weekend Feb 2-4 and finalize selections
  2. Players and Parents Notified by:  NLT Tuesday Feb. 6 
• After selection of players and acceptance, committee will  divide players into two teams using the following Guidelines:

1. No more than three (3) players from any one team may be nominated by coaches. Total team members are 20 with no more than two (2) on any one team of 10. 
2. In the event, any of the top 20 do not wish to accept the invitation, alternates in that position will be extended an offer to participate instead.

• The selection committee may decide to offer an at-large position to a player from any school that they feel deserves the honor, based on their ability to play at a higher level, or if there is a positional need for success of the players and the event to sustain a high level of play. This CAN be a player from a school that has already had three players selected already or from a school that did not submit any players. This is at the discretion of the committee with approval by the Europe Athletic Director. 

1. Selection of Coaches

• Coaches who play in the Championship Matches at Europeans will be offered the opportunity to coach the 2023 All Star Teams
• Head Coaches will be assigned at the discretion of  the DoDEA-E Athletics Coordinator, Kathlene Clemmons in consultation with the All Star Committee
• If coaches are unable to coach, other coaches will be assigned as necessary by the Athletic Coordinator and Committee
• Coaches will be provided a Travel Day, Thursday Feb 23, 2024. Transportation is not provided by DoDEA-E and no additional costs are authorized.

Format of Play

• 1 Game 4x 10 minutes quarters 

Costs for Players

• Free Costs of the Event
• Lodging- Lodging Costs(Players will stay at Vilseck HS in classrooms not used by the school) or can arrange for lodging at base hotel next to the school(player incurred cost)
• Uniform- Players will bring their respective home and away jersey and shorts(free)
• Transportation on Friday and Saturday to gyms and restaurants.

• Event Fee(75 dollars) to include the following:
  • Friday Breakfast and Lunch and Dinner will be a Bavarian Meal at a restaurant.  Saturday- Breakfast and Lunch
