Alexandria, VA —

DoDEA will continue to operate full-time in-person schools for the remainder of the school year and also provide a full-time virtual learning option for K-12 grade students. DoDEA has put in place safety requirements and precautionary measures that follow The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and DoD guidance to ensure employees and students who are attending face-to-face instruction are protected to the greatest extent possible. DoDEA also recognizes that students and families with health vulnerabilities related to COVID-19 still have concerns about returning to school. Parents will have the option to choose the best academic environment for their family for second semester.

The enrollment period will begin on Thursday, October 15 and remain open through Friday, November 6. This 3 week period will allow for parents with students currently in DVS to have a parent-teacher-conference prior to making a commitment and decision for the second semester.

For those families who do not want to change their student’s learning mode from in-person learning during the first semester, there is no need to complete this registration process.

Families that wish to change their student’s learning mode, or Virtual School students who want to remain in the virtual school for second semester, must register for that option.

When your family has come to a decision regarding each student’s choice for the second semester, they can register for that option using the DoDEA Aspen Family Portal here: https://familyportal.dodea.edu/aspenparentportal. Parents should use the Login ID and Password provided to them via email and follow the instructions that are provided. Parents must make a selection for each child using their unique Login ID and Password.

DoDEA plans, directs, coordinates, and manages Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade education programs for school-aged children of Department of Defense personnel who would otherwise not have access to a high-quality public education. DoDEA schools are located in Europe, the Pacific, Western Asia, the Middle East, Cuba, the United States, Guam, and Puerto Rico. DoDEA also provides support and resources to Local Educational Activities throughout the U.S. that serve children of military families.
