DoDEA Pacific now accepting applications for substitute teachers
Okinawa, Japan —
The Department of Defense Education Activity - Pacific Region is currently accepting applications for substitute teachers for the 2020-21 school year.
“Substitute teachers play an important role in our schools,” said Leigh Johnson, DoDEA Pacific Supervisory Human Resources Specialist. “Using a lesson plan and curriculum provided by the classroom teacher, they provide instruction and have the opportunity to work closely with military-connected youth in our community.”
In order to be considered, applicants must be a U.S. citizen covered by the applicable SOFA and reside within the local commuting area; undergo background investigation; hold, at minimum, a high school diploma or graduate equivalency diploma (GED); and male applicants must meet Selective Service requirements.
To keep your substitute teaching application active throughout the calendar year, it is necessary to apply or reapply during each of the following periods: January 1 to June 30 and July 1 to December 31.
