Dr. Ebony Freemon Selected as SPED AP at Humphreys West & Central Schools

Dr. Jacob Sherwood, Pacific West District Superintendent, is pleased to announce the selection of Dr. Ebony Freemon as Special Education (SPED) Assistant Principal at Humphreys West and Central Elementary Schools. Dr. Ebony Freemon will bring great expertise and leadership in special education to both schools. Splitting her time between the two schools as an Assistant Principal will provide both campuses with focused support in meeting the needs of their students.

Dr. Freemon believes that every child has abilities, gifts, and talents that they can contribute to society. Dr. Freemon is a strong advocate for individualized education and believe it truly takes a village to help students grow and strives to establish strong rapport with the students and families that she serves.

Dr. Freemon has been an educator for 17 years, with a background in Special Education and Educational Leadership. Dr. Freemon received a dual Bachelor of Science degree in Special Education and Psychology (2008) from Austin Peay State University, Clarksville, TN, a Master’s degree in Curriculum, Assessment, and Instruction (K-12) (2014) and a Doctorate in Education Leadership and Professional Practices (2017) from Trevecca Nazarene University, Nashville, TN.

Dr. Freemon’s previous instructional positions with DODEA includes Iwakuni Middle School (Iwakuni, Japan) and Humphreys Middle School (Camp Humphreys, South Korea). Dr. Freemon has previously served as an Assistant Principal (Special Education) at Wiesbaden Elementary School (Wiesbaden, Germany) and an Instructional System Specialist, Special Education (PAC West- South Korea). This is Dr. Freemon’s seventh year working for DoDEA and seventeenth year in education.

Dr. Freemon has held leadership positions as the Case Study Committee Chair, Continuous School Improvement Team Lead, as well as a facilitator and presenter for professional learning teams. In 2022-2023, Dr. Freemon piloted a Paraprofessional Academy at Wiesbaden Elementary School in the Europe East district, facilitating various courses and trainings to better equip support staff to work with student with disabilities. As of the 2024-2025 school year, Dr. Freemon has implemented Paraprofessional Academy at Humphreys Central Elementary School in the Pacific West district for support staff grades Pre-K through 4th grade and Embedded Professional Learning (EPLs) for new Special Education instructional staff.

Dr. Freemon is a native of Clarksville, TN, where she began her teaching career at a residential treatment facility and then transitioned to Clarksville-Montgomery Country School System (CMCSS) as an instructor of Special Education (K-12), served as a district behavior consultant, and a special education transition coach for school district. Dr. Freemon comes from a dual-military family and is also a former DODEA student.

In her free time, Dr. Freemon enjoys traveling, serving in church, and spending quality time with family.
