Dr. Ellen Harney Instructional Systems Specialist (Science PK-5)

Dr. Jacob Sherwood, Pacific West District Superintendent, is pleased to announce the selection of Dr. Ellen Harney as Instructional Systems Specialist for Science PK-5.
Dr. Harney earned her bachelor’s degree in 1995 in Biology, a M.Ed. in 1999 in Secondary and Elementary Education, and a M.Ed. in 2008 in Administration, all from East Stroudsburg University. Dr. Harney also earned an M.Ed. in Special Education in 2016 from New Jersey City University. In 2015 she earned a Doctor of Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.   Â
Dr. Harney has worked as a Professional Learning Instructional Systems Specialist for grades K – 12 since 2018 at the Bahrain School in the Europe South District. She started as an educator in DoDEA in 2011 at Camp Casey South Korea and has also worked at Seoul American Elementary School and Amilia Earhart Intermediate School in Okinawa.  In her career as an educator, Dr. Harney has taught in a variety of roles including elementary math support specialist, teacher in -grades K- 5, and as a middle school science and math teacher.
Dr. Harney is married to a DoDEA educator, John Harney. They have four children and one grandchild. In her free time, Dr. Harney enjoys the outdoor activities such as hiking, boating, and swimming. She also loves baking as well as traveling with her family.Â
Dr. Harney is excited to support administrators and educators with implementing high quality instructional practices and excellent instruction to ensure military connected students are successful and College and Career ready!  Â
