Dr. Tyais Dial has been selected as the next principal for Spangdahlem High School
Spangdahlem, Germany —
Dr. Jason Ter Horst, the Department of Defense Education Activity - Europe West District Superintendent, announces that Dr. Tyais Dial has been chosen as the new principal for Spangdahlem High School in Germany. “Dr. Dial is a proven leader with a wealth of diverse experience. We are excited to have her on board the Europe team,” said Ter Horst.
Dial, originally from California, has over 20 years of experience in the field of education. She has worked as a DoDEA teacher and administrator and has held various positions in Southern California, such as public-school teacher, paraprofessional, administrative assistant, WorkAbility Job Development teacher for Special Education Students, and Executive Assistant for the Superintendent of Educational Services. Dial's experience is varied, having worked in different school settings, districts such as public, private, and low-socioeconomic communities, and prominent districts.
Dial joined DoDEA in 2011 as a teacher at Tarawa Terrace Elementary School (TTES) in North Carolina. In 2018, she was selected as an assistant principal for Andersen Elementary School in Guam. She then served as the principal at Andersen Middle School, where she enjoyed working with highly experienced staff, exceptional Guam administrative colleagues, and remarkable students and parents.
Dial holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from California State-Dominguez Hills, a dual-teaching credential in Special Education/Multiple Subject, a Master of Science in Special Education from California Baptist University, and an Educational Specialist degree in Educational Leadership from Liberty University. She has recently completed her Doctor of Education Degree in Curriculum & Instruction from Liberty University.
In her free time, Dial enjoys spending time with her husband (a prior Marine) and children, attending church, playing board games, going to the beach, dining out, and creating memories! Dial feels grateful and honored to work for the DoDEA Europe West District and is excited to serve the faculty, staff, students, parents, and community aboard Spangdahlem Air Force Base.
