Fales Named Community Superintendent in Europe East District
Sembach, Germany —
Dr. Michelle Howard-Brahaney, Department of Defense Education Activity – Europe Director for Student Excellence, announces that Ms. Elizabeth Fales has been selected as the next Community Superintendent for Stuttgart and Ansbach schools in DoDEA-Europe’s East District. “Elizabeth is a proven leader with a wealth of experience. I am proud to announce her selection to this critical position,” said Brahaney.
Fales joined DoDEA in 2010 as the Early Childhood English Language Arts and Social Studies Instructional Systems Specialist in the then South Carolina/Fort Stewart/Cuba District. Most recently, she served as a Professional Practice and Improvement Specialist (PPIS) in the Europe Center for Instructional Leadership. As a PPIS, Elizabeth supported school administrators through coaching and job-embedded professional learning.
Fales has also served at DoDEA Headquarters as the Humanities Program Manager where she was responsible for the day-to-day operations and CCRS roll-out of the K-12 ELA/literacy, Social Studies, World Languages, Library, and Fine Arts programs. Prior to joining DoDEA, Elizabeth was a general education classroom teacher, a reading specialist, a teacher of gifted and talented, and a Reading First Reading Coach for the Ferguson-Florissant School District in her hometown of Saint Louis, Missouri.
“Principals have a broad and tremendous impact on student achievement, teacher excellence, and our military connected communities,” said Fales. “I am humbled to have this opportunity to support the Europe East District schools as a Community Superintendent.”
Fales holds two master’s degrees one in Elementary Education and one in Supervision and Leadership. She is currently working on her PhD in Instructional and Human Performance Technology. Elizabeth is married to Stephan, a retired member of the United States Air Force and current DoDEA educator, and most importantly whose support and encouragement is unparalleled.
As Community Superintendent Stuttgart and Ansbach schools in DoDEA-Europe’s East District, Fales will continue to work for the best possible outcomes needed to promote the social, emotional, and academic needs of all kids and will provide strong leadership to support DoDEA’ s leaders, staff, and parents for the highest quality education for students.
“Ms. Fales has a strong instructional background blended with school leadership coaching experience,” said Mr. Steve Sanchez, DoDEA-Europe East District Superintendent. “She is very well respected by educators and will be an asset to the Stuttgart and Ansbach communities. We are very excited to welcome her to the Europe East District team!”
DoDEA plans, directs, coordinates, and manages pre-kindergarten through 12th grade education programs for school-age children of Department of Defense personnel who would otherwise not have access to high-quality public education. DoDEA schools are located in Europe, the Pacific, Western Asia, the Middle East, Cuba, the United States, Guam, and Puerto Rico. DoDEA also provides support and resources to Local Educational Agencies throughout the United States that serve children of military families.
