Ground broken for new Nile C. Kinnick High School

Yokosuka, Japan —
The ground has officially been broken for the Department of Defense Education Activity’s newest 21st century facility – a replacement for Nile C. Kinnick High School, located at Yokosuka Naval Base.
A traditional Japanese groundbreaking ceremony took place on Monday, Oct. 24, 2022 at the Yokosuka Middle School Track and Field, where the new Kinnick High School will be located. The approximately $168 million project is designed to serve 673 students in grades 9-12 in a four-story facility totaling 158,115 square feet. The brand-new, 21st century facility featuring open spaces conducive for collaborative teaching and learning, new furnishings and technology.
During construction, Yokosuka Middle School students will utilize the field in Briggs Bay for physical education classes and recess.
