Linda Thomas to retire as Special Education Instructional System Specialist for DoDEA Americas, Southeast District

Linda Thomas has announced that she will retire from her position as Special Education Instructional System Specialist for DoDEA Americas, Southeast District, in September, 2023. Thomas has been with DoDEA since September 2018, and has worked in the field of education for 32 years.

“Ms. Thomas is a caring and compassionate educator with a wealth of knowledge in Special Education,” said Dr. Lisa B. Coleman, Georgia/Alabama Community Superintendent for DoDEA. “She has been a true asset to the Southeast District and we wish her the best in the next chapter of her life.”

About Linda Thomas

Thomas has served in the field of education for over 32 years. As a teacher she has taught students from pre-kindergarten to college. During her career, Thomas has served as school district Program Facilitator for Behavior Intervention and Prevention; Educational Quality Assurance Reviewer for Florida State University/Florida Department of Education; Special Education Coordinator/Director; and as a school guidance counselor at all levels.

Thomas has a bachelor’s degree in Special Education (Emotional Handicaps) from the University of West Florida, Pensacola, FL; a master’s degree in Counseling and Human Development from Troy State University, Troy, AL; a master’s degree in Educational Administration from Troy State University; and a Specialist in Education (Ed.S.) degree in Curriculum and Instruction (Specialization in Alternate Education and Special Education), the University of West Florida.
