Mr. Andrew Gann selected as the Principal of Vicenza Elementary School

Dr. Jeff Arrington, Superintendent of the DoDEA Europe South District, is pleased to announce the selection of Mr. Andrew Gann as the Principal of Vicenza Elementary School. Mr. Gann most recently served as the Principal of Aviano Elementary School. In making the announcement, Dr. Arrington remarked, “Mr. Gann is a seasoned elementary school principal whose experience in leading young learners and their teachers will continue and grow the tradition of excellence in education at Vicenza Elementary School.”

Mr. Gann has served children over the past 24 years as a teacher, assistant principal and principal. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education in 1999 from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and began his career as a first-grade teacher. Mr. Gann taught both first and second grades for seven years and earned certification as a National Board for Professional Teaching Standards certified teacher. In 2006, Mr. Gann was a recipient of the North Carolina Principal Fellows Scholarship. He earned a Master of Education School Administration degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 2008, after which he served as an Assistant Principal and then Principal at Title 1 elementary schools in the Greensboro area. In 2018, Mr. Gann felt called to serve military-connected students and accepted the position of Principal at Aviano Elementary School in Aviano, Italy. During his time at Aviano, overall student achievement saw marked increases in reading and math. Additionally, Mr. Gann successfully developed and implemented operational and academic structures and systems that improved school operations and efficiency. He is a relational leader who always keeps his door open to students, parents and school faculty and staff. He believes that all children deserve an exceptional and world-class education.

Mr. Gann and his wife Sammie, who is also an elementary teacher, have four wonderful and energetic children: Davon, McKinley, Brooklyn, and Jakob. The Gann family enjoys traveling, outdoor activities, family movie nights, and spoiling their three dogs. Mr. Gann is very excited and honored to have the opportunity to serve the Vicenza students, parents, and community.
